Playaways

It’s exciting to announce a new opportunity in the Library Media Center for our students! We now have Playaways! Playaways are books on MP3 players. These are available for students to listen to in the LMC before our morning assembly. Additionally, the LMC will be open on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 7:25 so that students may come to the library and take advantage of this opportunity. All books have available AR quizzes so that students can use these to earn their points.

I just got an email from our state library media specialists' organization. The author of Lightning Thief, Rick Riordan is going to be at our conference in April! Not only that, they cleared up the mystery about how to pronounce his name. Rick's last name is pronounced Ryer'-dan. (First syllable rhymes with fire) To read about him, visit his website. Everybody is going to want to catch up on him when the movie Lightning Thief is released next year. In the meantime, I'm going to take a copy of one of our library books to be signed. I'm also going to cross my fingers that I can get my picture taken with him too!

Video Book Talks Rock!

Today we're getting started on the Video Book Talk project. Everybody is working hard to make sure their video is just right. It has been alot of fun and everyone has learned something--including me! I think Ms. Smith and Mrs. Maxey would agree. Here are some pictures of kids hard at work.
